Our Origins

In the month of August of 1885, Father Yermo witnessed in horror a bloody scene that made all the fibers of his compassionate heart shudder: two newborns were being torn to pieces and devoured by pigs on the banks of ‘Los Gomez’ River.

From then on, this good priest could not forget that dismal image that brought to his mind all the misfortunes of the poor, it was like a dagger thrust into his good and sensitive heart.

Hence, God’s inspiration to do something for so many poor who had no opportunities to break out of the cycle of poverty and its consequences.

Trusting completely in God’s Providence, a few months later, on December 13th, he began the Congregation of Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Poor with 4 brave women and 60 poor, in the church of ‘El Calvario’ in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico.
